At U.S. mid-tier firms, women still getting shut out of executive jobs [6 April 2012]

This article says that when averaging all industries, women earn 81 cents for every dollar their male counterparts earn. However, if women represent at least 10% in a mid-level company, they are valued/paid the same as the men.

The exception lies in the three industries with the highest % of female execs : media, pharmaceuticals, and retailers where the female executives earn more than their male counterparts.
